Singer-songwriter, actor, producer and director Taimoor ‘Mooroo’ Salahuddin who’s known for his songs like ‘Itni Chikni’ and ‘Tere Bina” released the music video, for his single ‘Mariam’, on 13 December.

The video is a treat – with color graphics and sweet-sweet sweetness (I don’t know what it means but it’ll surely make sense when you watch the video). It has that cartoon-ish feel (in a good way) with oldie animation tricks (joining loads of images to make a video).

But behind this cute imagery, there’s months of painstaking work. The set is made-up of chart papers. Now, you can imagine, watching the video, how many chart they must have used. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) is where the video was shot. The director is Salman Noorani (alumni of SZABIST), hats off for him for taking up such a tiring job. The vision is his and it surely is one God-remembering. Watching the making of this music video is enough to make you feel fatigued.

The theme is love-story with death (typical) with couple dying again and again in their pursuit of happyness (you saw what I did there?). Lyrics are sweet as Mooroo croons ‘Pichlay janam se tujh pe nazar hay, ab sath hay tu or har pal rubroo.’ The songs is a masterpiece. Wait a few days, I’ll call it the most under-rated track of the year.

Watch the video and pray for current and ex students of SZABIST and for their arms to stop throbbing and hurting after such a back-breaking job. Don’t miss this gorgeous stop-motion treat!
