This is one more from the Nescafé Basement. The Call’s Shayad that was released a few years back, it didnt have the complete lyrics. I had written more but had not kept it in the song at the time when it was released. But every now and then in my concerts, I used to perform this extra-lyrics version. At the Basement, I was inclined to do this version rather than the original, because for me, the unheard before new lines complete the story that Shayad is all about. It takes the pain already present in the song to a new level. It has been very honestly sung and played with the emotion that was required to instill the ‘sad aggression’ in the song’s new treatment. This is the song that earned me nominations for the Best Video Director, Best Rock Song & Best Lyricist and this song also won the Song of the Year Award, so you guys can guess why it is a special song for me. If I have to pick my top three compositions, Shayad will definitely fall in it; this is how close i am to this song, and I have no hesitation in saying that the Basement version has made it even closer. ” – Zulfiqar j Khan
