Exclusive Interview
Q: First of all, tell us how you started your music career?
A: Me and khawar were working on a song. He wanted my English vocals for bundeya. The song got acknowledged by Mr. Shoaib mansoor and that is how my music journey started
Q: Well, how was the experience working with Khawar Jawad for ‘Bundeya’ For Khuda Kay Liye?
A: Khawar Jawad is one of the most talented music composer/director I have come across. I learnt a lot from him during the days of Khuda Kay Liye. It was an experience that taught me a lot about music
Q: Faiza Mujahid was long back time introduced in Industry, then what made you late to come up with solo career?
A: It has been this many years. I’ve learnt a lot from this industry in the last 5 years and not only matured as a person but as a musician. Therefore I wanted to have complete control over my music. I released “Kahan Houn May”; I did a cover for the 1992 wrold cup song and most recently I’m featured again in Shoaib Mansoor’s “Bol”. So I have been practicing my music but kept a low profile because I wanted to come back with a BANG!
Q: Tell us about your solo debut video and What are your expectations from it?
A: The video was director by Armughan Hassan who directed the first video for overload, “Cursed”. The entire team consists of young individuals who are emerging in their respective fields; Shah Zaman as the DOP, Asma as a fashion designer, Mehreen as an artist and Tanya as a stylist. The entire video is based on the energy and raw performance of an all girl band. It’s not trying to be too punk or too rock but it has elements of the two in terms of not just the obvious physical appearance, but also in our attitude and we felt we needed a location that reflected this notion. So the entire video is shot on top of and around a dusty expansive cargo port.
I want to be a versatile singer and so far my selection of songs has proved that and I of course expect my viewers to acknowledge this aspect of my persona as well.
Q: Tell us about your next project and when we can expect your album in market?
A: I’m going to release my album single by single! (Yes I like to tease my viewers ;))This is the first song of my album.
Q: How do you see the internet market for upcoming/underground bands in terms of marketing tool and what do u expect?
A:I think it is the most promising tool for advertising and promotion. Having an online presence has become essential to survive in today’s time.
Q:what do u think about PMR and how you will rate it ?? help us to improve more
A: I think it is one of the largest online resources for Pakistani music.
Note:
I feel that musician should work and depend on each other for the Pakistani music scene to grow, especially in troubled times like these, to avoid being crippled and discouraged by large money hoarding cooperation’s.
I write and compose my own music because it stems from my own experiences. And I can “safely” say that most successful artists are respected mainly for their originality.
