ONE ON ONE WITH KHAWAR JAWAD , THE VOICE BEHIND THE HIT “BANDEYA”

Hey Friends, we were fortunate enough to get in contact with the *Bandeya* famed singer, Khawar Jawed and get detailed insight on his journey to music and his hard work that has landed him in the spotlight. Hope you all enjoy it!

Well, Lets start with your musical career… Tell us something about it like how you started it and made it big?

I started as a “keyboardist” and as a music producer. My first project was with Shoiab Mansoor, named as “ishq nachaya kar thayya thyyaa” then I went on to do “Ishq Supreme Anarkali” and now recently i did playback singing in “Khuda Kay Liye”…I think this movie needs no introduction, every one knows about it.

Your Name is synonym to the Song ‘Bandeya’, What Impact do you think it has put on your career ?

Actually I had produced the song “bandeya” 4 years back. That time I was working with Shoaib Mansoor on different projects so he liked my song and asked me to give it  for his upcoming movie. It was a great opportunity for me that for the very first time he introduced me in the movie industry and gave me a place due to which ALHAMDOLLIALLA I am regarded every where and I have lots of fans around me.

Tell us something about your debut album ‘Maula’ CD Package ? How are the sounds in the album?

I had completed my this album in 2005 but it got released late. It’s a cocktail of pop, rock and sufism and classical too. The kind of music in my album is for all age groups. The basic thing that I want to say that what appealed me in creating music for this album was to revive the old classical music and revive sufism in a modern touch so that our youngsters who don’t have any attraction in old music, they must listen to it in their own aesthetic sense. In this way I have tried to preserve our cultural heritage which is of course no doubt “Sufi music”. Our young generation needs to understand Sufi music so I have made it a little attractive and pop and Inshallah in my upcoming albums I will keep on doing some experiments with different genres of music which would ultimately touch the souls.

Why your Debut Album ‘Maula’ also features some other artists? Any Special Reasons for This Collaboration?

Actually there is lot of talent in Pakistan but unfortunately they don’t get a chance in media. This attempt of mine was to introduce these hidden singers who are actually great. Well, I personally feel that music is something that should be expressed in all flavours, one should not have a feeling of competition with one another, no doubt it was my first debut album and mostly people ask me this question and I always told them, this is the way I am:) It feels nice to give others a chance who comes from the same background as you did. It’s just sort of humanity that clings on to me because of my culture and my past. The values don’t go away, even if everyone knows you as a star.

I am not here to compete with other singers or musicians; I am just here to give my utmost for my passion that is “music”.

Dj Suketu, The most famous DJ of India has remixed your song ‘Bandeya’, was there a moment of pride for you?

Yes of course, I’m really proud of it. Music has no boundaries so we must concentrate to spread it to every ear listening to it and everyone who appreciates every form of music.

What was the concept behind English- Punjabi songs? Where did the idea behind this come from? Was there a source of inspiration?

I have somehow explained it in the second question, but yes almost everything about this world inspires me for different things. So I asked myself why not combine English and Punjabi together?

The Song ‘Kahan Hoon Main’ Is Also released by Faiza, so who has the official rights of the song?

Actually when we were working together years back than I have composed this song and give a chance to Faiza to sing it with me. I do not know what kind of rumors is that? The song is originally mine and now I have heard her song, she has changed the whole lyrics and made it something else…she did it with out even asking my permission with out my consent which is morally wrong….
I have said earlier in some question that I am not here for any kind of competition so let her enjoy what ever she is doing 🙂

So Tell Us Something About Your Upcoming Video And Have You Completed The Work Of Next Album To Some Extent?

Not yet…  I am thinking to do other video and yes, I have started working on my second album but it won’t be right if I start talking about it right now. There are other projects of mine which definitely are worth discussing.

In what kind of a work environment do you do your best Music work? Like Composing and Writing.

Well for writing there is no specific environment, you just need a cool and calm place and composing is done in my own studio.

What’s your philosophy for music? And do you think that music has got any kind of message?

Music is in everyone’s soul. And no one can live without it, it is also the sound of heart. All kinds of music have a message, message of the soul to our hearts.

What Flaws Do You See in Pakistan Media And What Makes Pakistani Media So Far Back From Indian Media?

Talent is not recognized in its own essence. If we talk about pop music then Pakistan is somewhat richer in it than India. Just there is a need of giving them a chance and Government should support musicians and give those funds and opportunities. India is far from us just because of a good reason that the government supports this institution.

As many Criticisms are coming upon our singers who are already in “Bollywood”. If you got an offer from them , then what will your response be to them ?

Well first of all can any one tell me that what’s bad in getting in any others country media, in this way our talent is getting promoted. Rather than appreciating we are criticizing them. As i already said that music have no boundaries so it can be in any medium. If I ever get a chance than I would love to work in any media whether its Bollywood or Hollywood.

We should remove this line of discrimination and should move forward towards success. If our singers are working in Bollywood then we must be proud of them as they are representing Pakistan and our culture:)

Few Words About PMR?

Good luck and keep moving forward!! And it’s a great feeling to know how hard youngsters are working and making net a habitat.
